Rocky View County Sells Land to the Cochrane & District Agricultural Society
Rocky View County Sells Land to the Cochrane & District Agricultural Society
A unanimous vote of approval by the Rocky View councillors at their meeting on Tuesday, Oct 27, 2020, finalized the sale of the Cochrane Ag Society park, putting full ownership into the hands of CDAS. This is a tremendous commitment from the County towards the long term sustainability and success of this community asset.
Located on approximately 140 acres within the Town of Cochrane on the NW corner of Highways 22 & 1A, this land will continue to be used as a strong recreational and community space for the residents of the County and Cochrane.
Since its beginning in 1910, when the first Cochrane Fair was held, CDAS has grown to become a strong regional facility with more than 65,000 participants and spectators coming through the gates each year. Through the years, CDAS has been run by many strong teams of volunteer directors who have worked alongside the hundreds of volunteers dedicating thousands of hours to ensure the success of all the events.
The Board of the Ag Society sends a huge thank you to all of the dedicated volunteers and staff who played a part in the development and success of the Ag Society and all of its events throughout the last 100 years.
The Cochrane & District agricultural Society would like to the the Rocky View County councillors for their visionary support that has facilitated this sale. They have been instrumental in the success of the Ag Society from the beginning with over $650,000 in grant funds in past years
Ownership of the Ag Society Park by CDAS, marks the start of an exciting future for the Cochrane Ag Society as now we have a permanent home.
